Dear Sir/Ma’am,

Greetings from Empowerment through Law of the Common People (ELCOP).

Religious intolerance is increasing in Bangladesh. Lawyers need information about what to do. Often Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) is confused with minority rights.

It is a pleasure to inform you that ELCOP is going to organize an online training on Capacity building for lawyers on national Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) remedies, which is funded by Stefanus Alliance (SAI).The objective of this training is to connect a network between lawyers, academics and activists and to strengthen access to justice for victims of FoRB violations by equipping and supporting lawyers, human rights organizations and faith-based actors to promote FoRB and defend victims. The inauguration of the training will take place on 23rd April, 2021 at 10 am. The program will take place virtually on Zoom. Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Chairman, ELCOP and former Chairman, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has kindly consented to grace the occasion as Chief Guest. Md. Rashadul Islam, Director General, NGO Affairs Bureau and Rina Roy, Programme Director, Manusher Jonno Foundation have consented to join the program as Special Guests. Barrister Farzana Mahmood, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh and Executive Director of Bangladesh Manobadhikar O Poribesh Andolon Foundation will give light on the purpose of the project. The whole program will be presided by Barrister Tapas Kanti Baul, Executive Director, ELCOP. Last of all, Dr. Masum Billah, Associate Professor, Department of Law, Jagannath University, will propose the vote of thanks.

We will be highly honored if you kindly join the program.
